France joins Germany warning against Internet Explorer

France has echoed calls by the German government for web users to find an alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) to protect security.

Certa, a government agency that oversees cyber threats, warned against using all versions of the web browser. 
 
Germany warned users on Friday after malicious code - implicated in attacks on Google - was published online.

But Microsoft told BBC News that IE8 was the "most secure browser on the market" and people should upgrade.

Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6 - release in late         October 2009

The Ubuntu development team unleashed the sixth and last alpha version of the upcoming Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) operating system, due for release in late October this year.
 
What's new in Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6?  Well... first of all, there is no more Usplash (the boot splash screen). So it appears the the team has successfully managed to fulfill their initial plans for making a faster startup where a boot screen is no longer necessary. Therefore, when Ubuntu will start, you will see a black screen, after the BIOS POST, followed by the X-based splash screen (xsplash) that we've presented a few weeks ago. If the login manager is enabled, after login... xsplash will appear again (this time, loading the desktop in the background). Click here for more info

Red Hat updates enterprise Linux, Sep 03,2009,11.04PM

Red Hat has announced details of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.4, which the company is pitching firmly at growing virtualised environments. 

RHEL 5.4 is the foundation of the firm's portfolio of virtualisation solutions, and Red Hat said that the update supports a broad ecosystem of hardware and software.

Red Hat executives discussed during a webcast how the release fitted into the company's vision for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation, which it first began talking about in June.

Paul Cormier, president of products and technologies at Red Hat, said that RHEL 5.4 includes support for the kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) and Xen hypervisors, and gives customers an increased choice depending on personal requirements. for more info

  "The new Karmic currently comes with Linux kernel 2.6.31, KDE 4.3, Amarok 2.1.1 as the audio player, Dragon Player as the default video. "Konqueror is a hell of a browser, with countless features and ease of use for those who are already used to it. These are not all, but it comes with web shortcuts, enabled AdBlock filters, profiles, plugins, shortcut to various web page translations, user agent switching and so on. There was a time when Konqueror was very unstable, but now I encountered no crashes, with Flash enabled. On the other hand it was always mature regarding features and usability, since the KDE3 days. YouTube works fine also, but I had to manually install the Flash plugin, although package flashplugin-nonfree was already installed."
