Ubuntu 11.10 Wireless issue

I have found a problem when upgrading to ubuntu 11.10 regarding the network manager
After upgrading the wireless connection didn’t work I thought it was a problem related to the wlan driver.
Finally I have followed below steps for resolving the issue
Open the terminal
Alt+F2 type gnome-terminal
then run the below command
$sudo apt-get remove –purge network-manager
uninstalled the networkmanager
$sudo apt-get install wicd
Installed the wicd for fixing the issue.

Dell Vostro 1720, Ubuntu 11.10 upgradet from 11.04 where it did’nt work either. It worked on 10.04.

I get no error message, but asks for a password, and when I type password, it checks for the router gives up and asks again for password.

I think i solved my problem. I had a wired connection and two wireless connections in the net configuration. All of them had the “auto connect” checkbox activated, so i just un-checked the ones i dont’ want to use and saved the password for the one i want, thats all. A noobie problem i admite it =P

I have now reinstalled Ubuntu 11.10 from scratch. Partition nest after Ubuntu’s instructions. It works perfectly – but without the wireless connection. I installed the Broadcom wireless driver and wicd. Uninstalled Gnome Network. Wicd shows “100% connection to my router”.
During startup, a message: “wicd needs two access your computer’s network cards.”
When I disconnect the cable connection, I get the following: “Error 106 (net :: ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED): The Internet connection er lost.”

hey i use ubuntu 11.10 and I have a Wa1003a router …. i have entered all my ip and dns correctly it says WA1003a connected but when i use my morzilla firefox it doesnt connect nor does my software update
